The first major WEKIT community event “Requirements Bazaar Kick-off: Shape the Future of Augmented Reality Training” was held at the Industry track of the European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning (EC-TEL). The event took place in Lyon, France on September 13-16, 2016.
The aim of the community event was to bring people together who are investigating the future of Augmented Reality workplace training. The WEKIT industry track session opened with a keynote by Fridolin Wild (Oxford Brookes University) to introduce emerging WEKIT technologies and their new affordances for workplace training. Next, a round of short presentations introduced WEKIT industrial use cases from the requirements perspective and an open innovation platform Requirements Bazaar where all use cases are documented. After that the audience has been invited to a panel discussion with all the WEKIT experts.
On the last day of the conference, WEKIT community members co-organized and participated in the Wearable Enhanced Learning workshop (WELL). This half-day event included nine short presentations or live demonstrations each followed by a round of questions and feedbacks.
The community event supported professional networking with the European professionals in technology enhanced learning and spread the awareness of the WEKIT training methodology, technological platform, and industrial cases. More WEKIT events are planned, which will soon include hands-on demonstrations!
The WEKIT community is grateful to the ECTEL that collocated and supported the community event. ECTEL is a major international conference that engages researchers, practitioners, educational developers, entrepreneurs and policy makers to address current challenges and advances in the field of educational technologies.
